Car history: |
Posted 06/21/2017 We have owned this car since June, 1995. The car had a repaint in the original color but in base coat/clear coat with new upholstery and carpeting before we bought it. The rear from the door jam back was repainted in 2001 by a restoration shop in Tarpon Springs, FL. Paint is still presentable, the rear being better than the front. 1964 was the second year Air Conditioning was available in a Corvette. According to the Complete Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide Vol.2, only 181 Convertibles with 300HP and Powerglide were made out of 22,229 total cars produced in 1964. I always felt Factory A/C, C2 Vettes will be the high demand cars due to the fact that most new cars today have A/C. I have the original Owners Manual and Original Owners Protection Plan Book. This book has the original Owner, Delivery Date (Aug 21, 1964), Dealership (Slaton Chevrolet in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.), key #, & Engine Stamped Numbers. Block was surfaced when it was rebuilt (Before we bought it) and the numbers were removed. The numbers in the book can be used to restamp the block. I believe both NCRS and Bloomington Gold allow for restamping. The block has the correct casting number and date code. Vin Plate Data : Body S10592, Paint 912AA (Silver Blue), Trim 490BB (Dark Blue), Style 64-867 (Convertible), Time (June 26, 1964. I have replaced some of the A/C components (Hoses, Compressor and Dryer). A/C still does not work. I think its in the wiring or vacuum lines.
The original Compressor and new vacuum hoses are included with the car. See photo of new and used parts included. The brakes have been rebuilt and it has Radial tires. This car has many of its original components for those of you interested in having your Vette judged. See Photo for list with casting numbers and dates. |
